Now, the real start begins. Released on 25th April, <Weak Hero Class 2> is the follow-up season of <Weak Hero Class 1> that aired in 2022. Although it is the second season, the story of the main setting ‘Eunjang High School’ in the original webtoon will begin in earnest, and thus the expectations for this drama are higher than ever. Of course, as many aspects have changed since <Weak Hero Class 1>, it is likely that this season will also not follow the original exactly, making the actors' interpretations of their characters particularly anticipated. Let's look at the new actors joining <Weak Hero Class 2>.
In the original work, Park Hoomin, a character representing ‘Weak Hero’ alongside Yeon Si-eun (Park Ji-hoon), joins from season 2. Unlike Yeon Si-eun, who is essentially a loner, he maintains good relationships with his peers at school. At school, he is called ‘Baku’ and is regarded as a protector. Although he strives to prevent Yeon Si-eun from getting entangled with the alliance, he also gets caught up in the confrontation with the alliance due to his connections with Na Baek-jin.
The role of Park Hoomin in the drama is taken by Ryeoun. After debuting in 2017 and thriving in romance or drama-heavy projects, Ryeoun takes on an action drama for the first time. Just as Hong Shi-woo, a character from his breakthrough work <18 Again>, is portrayed as a basketball enthusiast active in the basketball team, Park Hoomin is depicted as the captain of the basketball team. This setting did not exist in the original, possibly influenced by Ryeoun's hobby of basketball after <18 Again>. If Yeon Si-eun is stronger than he looks, Park Hoomin is strong enough to protect the school, thus the action in this drama is highly anticipated. Following the historical action shown in <Flower Scholar’s Love Story>, it will be exciting to see if he can also excel in hand-to-hand combat.
