Hollywood master Steven Spielberg dismissed retirement rumours while still showing a vigorous creative spirit. Recently, a theatre named after him officially opened at Universal Studios, and Spielberg stated, “I will continue to make films in the future.”
The Hollywood Reporter reported on the 26th (local time) that Steven Spielberg attended the dedication ceremony for the newly established 250-seat ‘Steven Spielberg Theatre’ at the Los Angeles Universal Studios site. The event was attended by key figures including Donna Langley, Chair of NBCUniversal, Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast, as well as famous actors and fellow directors such as John Travolta, Vin Diesel, Seth Rogen, and Dakota Fanning, who gathered to celebrate Spielberg’s achievements.
Steven Spielberg emphasised, “I am still making many films, and I have no plans to retire.” He added, “I hope this place becomes not only my legacy but also a dream space for future filmmakers,” expressing that he feels the birth of a community working together to create good films.
In a separate interview, Steven Spielberg mentioned the genre he has yet to complete as “Western” and stated, “I definitely want to challenge it someday.” He conveyed his desire to embody the ‘operatic sensibility’ that the Western genre possesses.
