Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of Netflix's , will receive the Creator Tribute award at the Gotham Awards, an American television series awards ceremony.

According to an announcement made by the Gotham Film and Media Institute on the 25th through their official website, Director Hwang has been selected as the recipient of the lifetime achievement award at the '2025 Gotham TV Awards' (hereinafter referred to as the Gotham Awards) to be held on June 2 in New York, USA.

This award is an esteemed recognition given to creators who have expanded the boundaries of the television industry and made significant impacts.

The Gotham Awards stated in an official statement that " has received global acclaim and has established itself as a landmark of modern TV series," and that "Director Hwang has captivated global audiences with a series that combines thrill and cultural identity."

Although Director Hwang has won several awards at various prestigious international ceremonies, including the Emmys, this will be his first time receiving a lifetime achievement award.

The Gotham Awards, which have been held annually since 1991, are a major ceremony that highlights independent films and dramas, and already won the award for 'Breakthrough Series, 40 Minutes or More' at the same ceremony in 2021.
