The Busan International Short Film Festival will raise its curtain in splendour from the 24th to the 29th at the Busan Cinema Center and the BNK Busan Bank Art Cinema Corner Theater. Celebrating its 42nd anniversary this year, the festival focuses on the auditory elements of cinematic art with the theme 'Cinema & Sound'.

Starting in 1980, this festival is held with the support of Busan City and is organised and managed by the Busan International Short Film Festival. The festival is set to showcase the 'aesthetic of sound' through various short films, highlighting elements such as dialogue, sound effects, and film music to the audience.

This year's festival will screen a total of 157 works from 41 countries, including 40 entries in the international competition and 20 in the Korean competition. The opening films are the from guest country Colombia, from France, and from Mexico.

The opening ceremony will be held on the 24th at 7 PM at the Sky Theatre in the Busan Cinema Center, where the opening films will be premiered. The opening performance will feature a dance performance combining tradition and modernity by Jonathan Jiménez, a recipient of Colombia's National Order of Merit, and his troupe. Music videos by music director and singer-songwriter Kim Sawol will also be screened.

Before the official schedule of the festival, an opening eve performance will be held at 7 PM on the 23rd on the 2nd floor of the Ocean Hall in the BNK Busan Bank head office.
