The Busan International Short Film Festival will grandly open from the 24th to the 29th at the Busan Cinema Center and the BNK Busan Bank Art Cinema Corner Theater. Celebrating its 42nd edition this year, the festival highlights the auditory elements of cinematic art under the theme 'Cinema & Sound'.

Established in 1980, this film festival is supported by Busan City and organized by the Busan International Short Film Festival. The festival will present the 'aesthetics of sound' through various short films, including dialogue, sound effects, and film music.

This year, 157 films from 41 countries will be screened, including 40 international competition entries and 20 Korean competition entries. The opening films are 〈Grandfather Crocodile〉 from Colombia, 〈Across the Water〉 from France, and 〈Carlos's Helmet〉 from Mexico.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7 PM on the 24th at the Haneul Theater in the Busan Cinema Center, where the opening films will premiere. The opening performance will feature a dance performance blending tradition and modernity by Jonathan Jimenez, a recipient of Colombia's Medal of Honor, and his performance team. Additionally, a music video by music director and singer-songwriter Kim Sawol will be screened.

Before the official schedule of the festival, a pre-opening night performance will take place at 7 PM on the 23rd at the Ocean Hall on the 2nd floor of the BNK Busan Bank headquarters.
