The film 〈Opposition〉 is anticipated to dominate the weekend box office with strong ticket sales immediately after its release.

According to the integrated computer network for cinema tickets, director Hwang Byung-guk's 〈Opposition〉 attracted over 73,000 viewers on the second day of its release on the 17th, securing the top position in the box office with a 64.6% share.

Released on the 16th and immediately climbing to the top of the box office, 〈Opposition〉 is a crime film about brokers who pass on drug crime information to investigative agencies and gain profits. The film portrays the complex relationships between Yi Kang-su (played by Kang Ha-neul), a broker in Opposition, prosecutor Gu Gwan-hee (played by Yoo Hae-jin) who has a symbiotic relationship with him, and detective Oh Sang-jae (played by Park Hae-jun) who is determined to take down a drug trafficking organisation.

Meanwhile, director Kim Hyung-joo's 〈The Match〉, based on the true story of legendary Go players Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho, attracted over 13,000 viewers on the same day, claiming second place with an 11.3% share.

〈The Match〉 has recently surpassed its break-even point of 1.8 million viewers, with a total audience count of approximately 1.89 million.

As of 8 a.m. on the 18th, 〈Opposition〉 recorded a reservation rate of 34.3% with around 85,000 tickets sold, maintaining the top spot in advance booking rankings.

With a significant gap from the second place 〈The Match〉 (reservation rate 6.5%, with about 16,000 tickets sold), industry insiders predict that 〈Opposition〉 will continue its solo lead over the weekend.
